The Guild Hotel

The Guild Hotel, San Diego – Girls Getaway

The Guild Hotel is an ideal place for a girls trip – without the kids. Grab your best mom girlfriends and plan for a weekend of luxury and adventure in San Diego. The Guild Hotel, located in San Diego’s Downtown district, was resurrected from a 1924 YMCA. The hotel has a simplistic, yet sophisticated and modern design. The theme for the decor is black with gold accents.

The main lobby opens up to a welcoming bar and lounge area with comfortable, stylish seating. The accommodations are sleek, yet cozy (not too much room for kids to run around), the outdoor restaurant offers a creative menu, and the nearby gym access will allow you to work up a sweat and to also lounge by the pool, not to mention exploring the wonderful attractions the city has to offer. So pack you bags and hit the road.

Dining at The Guild Hotel

One of the highlights of the hotel is the outdoor courtyard dining, Luca. It offers a Mediterranean flair with black and white umbrellas and seating – perfect for dining al fresco. The creative cuisine is perfect for a celebratory girls weekend and includes items such as “Lollipops” made from fried quinoa with a green goddess dressing and served on a stick in a bowl of grass ($12), “Midnight Lure” consisting of field greens, chocolate dust, soft boiled egg, basil dijon dressing, berries, and almonds ($14), “Cured & Toasty” made of proscuitto di parma, lemon mascarpone, fennel, romano, truffle ($15), and “Gluttony” made of 16oz kc steak, chai demi, truffle potato clouds, roasted root vegetables ($49). There is not a “kid’s menu.”

Luca is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, but closed between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m., so be sure to have a snack before arriving for check in. The Guild Bar does offer a limited snack menu from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., as well as crafted cocktails and other libations. There is an outdoor patio for relaxing or enjoying a cup of coffee or a nightcap with friends.

Wellness at The Guild Hotel

Although The Guild Hotel does have a basement workout room outfitted with cardio equipment, free weights and a Peloton bike, they have also partnered with the Broadway Athletic and Swim Club, which is just across the street. For a discounted $10 daily fee, guests at The Guild Hotel can utilize all the amenities at the Club. The facility features outdoor, rooftop spin classes, a rooftop pool (there is no pool at the hotel), a variety of fitness classes, and a wide variety of workout equipment.

Special Event Space at The Guild Hotel

I typically don’t cover “event space” in my hotel reviews, but I was so impressed with the space at The Guild Hotel that I thought I’d mention it. Most hotels offer drab meeting rooms, but The Guild Hotel has the Grace Ballroom that is a bright white, modern industrial room with natural lighting that is perfect for business meetings or social gatherings. There is also an outdoor patio, The Garden Terrace, that can be custom decorated to fit your needs. And the Society Lounge feels more like a swanky apartment with a wet bar and stylish furniture.

One of the best things about The Guild Hotel is it’s location. It is just a few blocks away from the following attractions:
