Hotel Figueroa is a beautiful hotel in L.A. built by women, for women, in 1926. The building, located in downtown Los Angeles, was once a YWCA where women travelers were welcomed and embraced. The founding women wanted a place that would spark conversation, promote creativity, and uplift women.
Today, the newly restored 268-room, Spanish Mediterranean hotel not only highlights women through its art, but is also a haven for all sorts of travelers. H.E.R. Suite at Hotel Figueroa
The gorgeous H.E.R. Suite (Happy, Empowered, Restful) features a wide array of wellness products (listed below) that are made by women-owned business, most of which are based in California. This suite celebrates the creativity and strength of innovative female founders and businesses who are shaping culture and moving the needle of commerce, fashion, retail, and wellness. It also serves as a gentle reminder to continue to engage in an active practice of self-care. As a guest in that suite, you get to take home all of the products (except the sheets), with a retail value of more than $2,000! You even get an adorable signature and limited-edition Hotel Figueroa tote bag to carry them. Since the room rate typcially averages around $500 (depending on season and availability), this is the BEST deal in L.A. for an overnight stay!!

As if the products aren’t enough, this one-bedroom suite is the perfect environment to rest with beautiful with hardwood floors, leather headboard, linen curtains, marble counters, and terra cotta tile floors. Make your in-room coffee and sit on the iron balcony taking in the sites of L.A. Available for booking through the end of December, the H.E.R. Suite is one of two fully outfitted “self-care specialty suites.” The other one is the Rest, Relax, Recover, Reset Suite.

Empowering Women
The hotel was created by women, for women – and that still holds true today. The world-class art that adorns the walls and walkways was made by women. The pieces in the arched hallway, leading to the pool, highlight a featured artist that rotates throughout the year. The work can be purchased and shipped to your home. What an amazing souvenir – and you’re supporting a local female artist! The hotel only takes a 10 percent commission. It literally is an art museum within the hotel. It is free and open 24/7 for anyone to browse, admire and inspire.
Thoughtful Design
Whether you’re visiting the hotel to explore L.A., to relax and unwind, or to cut loose, the hotel has various lounge areas that will suite your needs.
The Lobby: The books that you’ll find stacked around the lobby are mostly about art, design, and culture. There are no TVs in the lobby. The seating areas are configured for small group gatherings at tables and couches. The design features are meant to evoke a sense of community and to get people talking to each other. You can also order craft cocktails and fresh, locally sourced cuisine at Bar Magnolia. Take a seat at the bar or next to the fire, relax or engage…it’s up to you.
The Pool: Walk through the softly lit outdoor archway with living walls to get to the outdoor pool. Lounge by the coffin-shaped pool and take in the beautiful fig leaf mural that adorns the side of the hotel while sipping your favorite cocktail. There’s also a sun deck off the workout room on the 2nd floor. For casual bites and fun vibes, head to poolside La Casita cocktail bar and lounge. After dark, switch you swimsuit for the night scene and dig into some Mediterranean and contemporary Italian organic-fare.
Dining at Hotel Figueroa
Sparrow, which opened in 2021, offers house made pasta on the stylish patio overlooking the coffin-shaped pool or in the swanky indoor dining room. For a romantic dinner, this is the spot. For all-day small bites, craft cocktails, and Happy Hour, Bar Magnolia has got you covered. La Casita is a beautiful cocktail lounge with tasty organic fare. Start or end your day with a scrumptious meal at Cafe Fig. The Mediterranean, Southwest, and Continental menu by Chef Jan Claudio features fresh, organic, and sustainable products, along with vegan and gluten free options.
