I recently spent a weekend in Seattle, Washington with my family and when I was looking for the top 5 Seattle attractions, I came across the Seattle CityPASS, which included admission to the following attractions:
- Space Needle
- Seattle Aquarium
- Argosy Cruises Harbor Tour
- Museum of Pop Culture (MoPOP) OR Woodland Park Zoo
- Chihuly Garden and Glass ($26) OR Pacific Science Center
Most of the top 5 Seattle attractions were on our “must do/see” list so the Seattle CityPASS was a great value at only $89. If we would have purchased individual passes for each attraction, we would have spent almost $160. That’s almost a 50 percent savings and well worth it. We really enjoyed spending the weekend seeing the sights that Seattle had to offer.
Top 5 Seattle Attractions
Here’s my viewpoint of the top 5 Seattle attractions that are included with the Seattle CityPASS. Having the pass made it easy to plan which Seattle attractions to do and most of them were ones that we wanted to do and see anyway.
Space Needle
Since we were there for the weekend we started on Saturday by visiting one of the top Seattle attractions, the iconic Space Needle first. It was partially under construction (through May 2018) so some of the view from the top was obstructed, but it was still fun to go to the Observation Deck and see the city below and get a bird’s-eye view of the layout of the city. If you get a rare day with clear skies, you can see Mt. Rainer. It was a typical cloudy day when I visited, but still pretty.
Chihuly Garden and Glass
Nearb, we visited the beautiful Chihuly Garden and Glass. I was so impressed with this Seattle attraction. Dale Chihuly’s creative and enormous glass sculptures were awe inspiring. Whether a chandelier hanging from the ceiling, a sculpture rising up from the ground, or a colorful garden ornament complimenting the colors of nature, his pieces are inspiring, witty, and showcase his talent, skill, and craftsmanship. They also have a cafe that is beautiful, convenient, and has a wonderful menu.
MoPOP
After lunch, we headed to the Museum of Pop Culture (MoPOP), which is also in the same vicinity. It was much larger than I had anticipated, which was a nice surprise. We spent more than an hour exploring the several exhibits that covered rock music (Nirvana and Jimi Hendrix), science fiction (StarTrek and Star Wars), popular culture (video games). Some of our favorite exhibits were the Sound Lab where we could play drums, guitars and keyboards in a soundproof booth where we could record our own music. We also loved seeing the original artifacts from the Wizard of Oz, such as Dorothy’s dress and the wicked witch’s hat. The Indie Game Revolution was filled with numerous video games. Gamers could spend hours in there! Special exhibits rotate throughout the year and cost an extra fee ($8 for CityPASS holders). While we were there, they had a MARVEL Universe of Superheroes exhibit that was quite popular. Not only is the inside of the museum fun to explore, but the outside architecture itself is a work of art. Just outside there is a really fun and large playground for kids to explore.

Space Needle
On Sunday, we got up early and after eating a heady breakfast, paid a visit the the Seattle Aquarium that included sea otters, river otters, jellyfish, octopus, sharks, a touch pool, a 120,000-gallon tank with a variety of sea creatures, a 360-degree underwater dome were visitors can view a 400,000-gallon tank featuring sea life from the Puget Sound area. My favorite thing was to watch the playful sea otters. I arrived during feeding time and the otters were cracking crabs on their chest as they swam on their backs. They were so cute.
Argosy Cruise Harbor Tour
We couldn’t leave without seeing the city from the water so we used our Seattle CityPass to take a tour around the harbor with Argosy Cruises. The one-hour narrated tour of the Seattle Harbor and Elliott Bay was a great way to learn more about the city and see some other parts of Seattle. The boat was comfortable with indoor and outdoor seating. The views of the city skyline from the water were beautiful. This was one of my favorite Seattle attractions.
So, if you’re planning a trip to Seattle, the Seattle CityPASS is a great way to see some popular sights while saving some money at the same time.
